PhD

My research primarily focuses on dynamics, hazard, vulnerability and risk of heatwaves and heat stress in India. My doctoral research work, funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, broadly covers the mentioned objectives: 1) understanding the status of regional temperature changes over India in consideration with the global temperature changes and to study the contribution of greenhouse gases and aerosols to the temperature and rainfall variability over India in the last two decades, 2) to develop a hazard map for the Indian region based on the indicators relevant to heat stress, which will be a new approach to develop a hazard map focusing on other parameters along with the conventional method, which considers temperature only. 3) to develop a heat stress vulnerability and risk map for Indian subcontinent.
