Our Ecohydrology Group at IIT Bombay works on four key areas 1) microwave remote sensing of soil moisture and vegetation, 2) soil-vegetation-atmosphere interactions, 3) modeling and prediction of droughts and heatwaves, and 4) hyper-resolution land surface modeling. The unifying element of all these areas is ‘soil moisture’, which quantifies the water content in the soil. The research carried out by the group has significance in the context of agriculture, extreme events, and early warning systems in India.

My research focuses on quantifying vegetation resilience to wildfires and identifying the climatic drivers and impact of climate change on vegetation resilience.

Khushboo Kumari

PhD

My research focuses on land surface modeling at hyper-resolution scales, capturing intricate crop dynamics crucial for sustainable farming practices. By leveraging advanced modeling, I aim to enhance address water resource challenges, and support India's farming communities in adapting to changing climatic conditions.
