Thesis Topic:
Her study aims at estimating uncertainty in vehicular emissions by developing real-world emission factors for carbonaceous aerosols, for the very first time in India using road tunnel and roadside measurement studies. The estimated emission factors for real-world on-road vehicles being developed for Mumbai city will in the long run be helpful in quantifying national level vehicular emissions under real-world driving conditions. In-situ as well as filter based thermal/optical methods will be used to characterise the carbonaceous aerosol emissions. The derived emission values will be used as inputs in climate models that would help in quantifying their climate impacts, e.g. on the radiative forcing of aerosols.
